Comanche County, Oklahoma

According to the 2000 Census, Comanche County, Oklahoma has a population of 114,996 people. Of those, 74,988 (65%) are White, 21,847 (19%) are Black, and 9,675 (8%) are Latino[1]. However, 2,141 (or 2% of the 114,996 people) are not residents by choice but are people in prison.

Even though prisoners cannot participate in the local community, the Census Bureau nevertheless counts them as residents of the county where they are incarcerated.

A more accurate description would not include the prisoners. This would give Comanche County a population of 112,855 with a demographic that is 66% White, 19% Black, and 8% Latino.
