Wichita County, Texas

According to the 2000 Census, Wichita County, Texas has a population of 131,664 people. Of those, 103,705 (79%) are White, 13,466 (10%) are Black, and 16,097 (12%) are Latino[1]. However, 4,147 (or 3% of the 131,664 people) are not residents by choice but are people in prison.

Even though prisoners cannot participate in the local community, the Census Bureau nevertheless counts them as residents of the county where they are incarcerated.

A more accurate description would not include the prisoners. This would give Wichita County a population of 127,517 with a demographic that is 79% White, 9% Black, and 12% Latino.
