Angelina County, Texas

According to the 2000 Census, Angelina County, Texas has a population of 80,130 people. Of those, 60,174 (75%) are White, 11,792 (15%) are Black, and 11,496 (14%) are Latino[1]. However, 1,144 (or 1% of the 80,130 people) are not residents by choice but are people in prison.

Even though prisoners cannot participate in the local community, the Census Bureau nevertheless counts them as residents of the county where they are incarcerated.

A more accurate description would not include the prisoners. This would give Angelina County a population of 78,986 with a demographic that is 76% White, 14% Black, and 14% Latino.
