Okfuskee County, Oklahoma

According to the 2000 Census, Okfuskee County, Oklahoma has a population of 11,814 people. Of those, 7,734 (65%) are White, 1,230 (10%) are Black, and 194 (2%) are Latino[1]. However, 695 (or 6% of the 11,814 people) are not residents by choice but are people in prison.

Even though prisoners cannot participate in the local community, the Census Bureau nevertheless counts them as residents of the county where they are incarcerated.

A more accurate description would not include the prisoners. This would give Okfuskee County a population of 11,119 with a demographic that is 66% White, 9% Black, and 1% Latino.
