According to the 2000 Census, Trumbull County, Ohio has a population of 225,116 people. Of those, 203,084 (90%) are White, 17,778 (8%) are Black, and 1,794 (1%) are Latino[1]. However, 1,729 (or 1% of the 225,116 people) are not residents by choice but are people in prison.

Even though prisoners cannot participate in the local community, the Census Bureau nevertheless counts them as residents of the county where they are incarcerated.

A more accurate description would not include the prisoners. This would give Trumbull County a population of 223,387 with a demographic that is 91% White, 8% Black, and 1% Latino.
