Bradford County, Florida

According to the 2000 Census, Bradford County, Florida has a population of 26,088 people. Of those, 19,900 (76%) are White, 5,423 (21%) are Black, and 622 (2%) are Latino[1]. However, 3,805 (or 15% of the 26,088 people) are not residents by choice but are people in prison.

Even though prisoners cannot participate in the local community, the Census Bureau nevertheless counts them as residents of the county where they are incarcerated.

A more accurate description would not include the prisoners. This would give Bradford County a population of 22,283 with a demographic that is 82% White, 15% Black, and 2% Latino.
