Tolland County, Connecticut

According to the 2000 Census, Tolland County, Connecticut has a population of 136,364 people. Of those, 125,915 (92%) are White, 3,708 (3%) are Black, and 3,873 (3%) are Latino[1]. However, 2,762 (or 2% of the 136,364 people) are not residents by choice but are people in prison.

Even though prisoners cannot participate in the local community, the Census Bureau nevertheless counts them as residents of the county where they are incarcerated.

A more accurate description would not include the prisoners. This would give Tolland County a population of 133,602 with a demographic that is 94% White, 2% Black, and 2% Latino.
