Fresno County, California

According to the 2000 Census, Fresno County, California has a population of 799,407 people. Of those, 434,045 (54%) are White, 42,337 (5%) are Black, and 351,636 (44%) are Latino[1]. However, 7,415 (or 1% of the 799,407 people) are not residents by choice but are people in prison.

Even though prisoners cannot participate in the local community, the Census Bureau nevertheless counts them as residents of the county where they are incarcerated.

A more accurate description would not include the prisoners. This would give Fresno County a population of 791,992 with a demographic that is 54% White, 5% Black, and 44% Latino.
