Camden County, New Jersey

According to the 2000 Census, Camden County, New Jersey has a population of 508,932 people. Of those, 360,756 (71%) are White, 92,059 (18%) are Black, and 49,166 (10%) are Latino[1]. However, 3,353 (or 1% of the 508,932 people) are not residents by choice but are people in prison.

Even though prisoners cannot participate in the local community, the Census Bureau nevertheless counts them as residents of the county where they are incarcerated.

A more accurate description would not include the prisoners. This would give Camden County a population of 505,579 with a demographic that is 71% White, 18% Black, and 10% Latino.
