City of Cranston<\/i><\/a>, a case filed in 2014 seeking to end prison gerrymandering in Cranston, Rhode Island, is getting rolling again.  After an <a href=\"http:\/\/www.providencejournal.com\/news\/courts\/20140910-judge-rules-suit-against-cranston-over-redistricting-plan-that-counts-aci-inmates-can-proceed.ece\">initial victory for the plaintiffs<\/a>, the case was put on hold awaiting the Supreme Court&#8217;s ruing in <a href=\"\/\/www.prisonersofthecensus.org\/news\/2015\/09\/30\/evenwel-brief\/\"><i>Evenwel v. Abbott<\/i><\/a>.\n<\/p>\n<p>Then just a couple of weeks before the <i>Evenwel<\/i> decision came down, a federal court struck down a redistricting plan in Jefferson County, Florida, <a href=\"\/\/www.prisonersofthecensus.org\/news\/2016\/03\/21\/calvin\/\">deeming prison gerrymandering unconstitutional<\/a>.\n<\/p>\n<p> Now, at the request of the Judge in <i>Davidson<\/i>, Plaintiffs submitted a <a href=\"\/\/www.prisonersofthecensus.org\/davidson\/Plaintiffs-MOL-Supplement-MSJ.pdf\">memorandum of law<\/a>, summarizing the courts&#8217; reasoning in <i>Evenwel<\/i> and Florida condemning prison gerrymandering.
