{"id":2875,"date":"2011-07-14T11:59:59","date_gmt":"2011-07-14T15:59:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.prisonersofthecensus.org\/news\/?p=2875"},"modified":"2015-06-19T13:49:02","modified_gmt":"2015-06-19T17:49:02","slug":"bw","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.prisonersofthecensus.org\/news\/2011\/07\/14\/bw\/","title":{"rendered":"Boston Workers Alliance Takes a Stand Against Prison-Based Gerrymandering"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The movement to demand fair redistricting in <a href=\"\/\/www.prisonersofthecensus.org\/massachusetts.html\">Massachusetts<\/a> is growing fast.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/bostonworkersalliance.org\/\">Boston Workers Alliance<\/a> has released a resolution with both short- and long-term plans to end prison-based gerrymandering in Massachusetts.<\/p>\n<p>Using the <a href=\"\/\/www.prisonersofthecensus.org\/news\/2011\/07\/11\/mass-video\/\">video<\/a> we recently released on how to avoid prison-based gerrymandering in Massachusetts, the Boston Workers Alliance calls on the Massachusetts Legislature to use the allowable 5% deviation from the ideal district size to compensate for the distortion caused by prison-based gerrymandering.
