{"id":2483,"date":"2011-05-04T09:45:50","date_gmt":"2011-05-04T13:45:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.prisonersofthecensus.org\/news\/?p=2483"},"modified":"2019-11-08T11:05:47","modified_gmt":"2019-11-08T16:05:47","slug":"maryland-data","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.prisonersofthecensus.org\/news\/2011\/05\/04\/maryland-data\/","title":{"rendered":"Maryland releases adjusted redistricting data"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Maryland <a href=\"http:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20110726015033\/http:\/\/planning.maryland.gov\/PDF\/Press\/PressRelease_GreenReport050311.pdf\">just released its &#8220;Green Report&#8221;<\/a> of redistricting data, adjusted to prevent prison-based gerrymandering in the state.\n<\/p>\n<p>The Maryland Department of Planning announces:\n<\/p>\n<p class=\"quote\">\nThe report, released jointly by the Maryland Departments of Planning, Legislative Services, and Public Safety and Correctional Services, contains tables of population counts for the 1,849 voting districts, or precincts, in Maryland\u2019s 23 counties and Baltimore City. The counts were derived from the 2010 Census. Also, for the first time, the data was adjusted for the purposes of creating Congressional, State Legislative and local districting plans in accordance with the \u201cNo Representation Without Population Act,\u201d signed into Maryland law in 2010.
