This file lists our notes on facilites were either not counted, or that we expected to be counted as correctional facilities but were instead coded as other types of group quarters. As a result, these facilities do not appear in our correctional facility locator. Connecticut Block: 09 009 343101 3041 Manson Youth Institution, was coded as a juvenile institution, but is operated by the Connecticut Department of Correction and houses inmates up to 21 years of age. There is a reported population of 611 in Juvenile Correctional, and 384 of those are 18 years of age or older. Kentucky Block: 21 067 003701 2034 Lexington FMC Camp is also here along with the Lexington FMC, but was not counted by the Census Bureau. We expect the population at the Camp to be around 300-350. Kentucky Block: 21 067 003702 2021 The Lexington-Fayette Detention Center (population 1093) was coded as a college dorm. Louisiana: Block 2181, Block Group 2, Census Tract 1, Tensas Parish J.B. Evans Correctional Center is physically located in this block, but the incarcerated population is missing entirely from both the block and the parish. The Census Bureau counted 0 people in this block. Michigan Block: The block 26 161 422900 2001 with 196 population coded as "institutionalized other" facility is the Center for Forensic Psychiatry, a "210-bed psychiatric facility that provides diagnostic services to the criminal justice system and psychiatric treatment for criminal defendants adjudicated incompetent to stand trial or acquitted by reason of insanity". http://www.michigan.gov/mdch/1,1607,7-132-2941_4868_4896-14465--,00.html The block 26 161 422900 1001 should have contained the Huron Valley Women's Facility. (That block would also have contained the men's facility of the same name; but that facility closed before the 2010 Census.) Minnesota Block: 27 017 070500 5022 The block 27 017 070500 5022 with 302 population coded as "non-institutionalized other" is the Minnesota Sex Offender Program (MSOP) facility at Moose Lake. MSOP "serves people who are court-ordered to receive sex offender treatment. After prison sentences are complete, courts civilly commit clients and place them in sex offender treatment for an unspecified period of time." (This block is wholly surrounded by a block containing the MCF - Moose Lake.) New Jersey Block: 34 005 981802 1006 The Albert C. Wagner/Garden State YCF was coded as an juvenile institution. The Census counted 3,036 in Juvenile facilities in this block. New Jersey Block: 34 021 001300 2001 and 34 021 003705 2003 CRAF (Central Reception) This facility was partially counted in tract 001300 block 2001, but should have been counted in the adjacent block to the northwest (tract 003705 block 2003). We expected this CRAF facility to be reported at approximately 900 people, not 536. (Note: This and the adjoining blocks also contain the Trenton Psychiatric Hospital and the Ann Klein Forensic Center, which appear to have been properly counted and coded as nursing/skilled care facilities. New Jersey Block: 34 019 011001 2044 The Mountainview YCF was coded as an juvenile institution. The Census counted 1,140 in Juvenile facilities in this block.
