Tarrant County, Texas

According to the 2000 Census, Tarrant County, Texas has a population of 1,446,219 people. Of those, 1,030,208 (71%) are White, 185,143 (13%) are Black, and 285,290 (20%) are Latino[1]. However, 7,862 (or 1% of the 1,446,219 people) are not residents by choice but are people in prison.

Even though prisoners cannot participate in the local community, the Census Bureau nevertheless counts them as residents of the county where they are incarcerated.

A more accurate description would not include the prisoners. This would give Tarrant County a population of 1,438,357 with a demographic that is 71% White, 13% Black, and 20% Latino.
