Hunterdon County, New Jersey

According to the 2000 Census, Hunterdon County, New Jersey has a population of 121,989 people. Of those, 114,563 (94%) are White, 2,743 (2%) are Black, and 3,371 (3%) are Latino[1]. However, 2,586 (or 2% of the 121,989 people) are not residents by choice but are people in prison.

Even though prisoners cannot participate in the local community, the Census Bureau nevertheless counts them as residents of the county where they are incarcerated.

A more accurate description would not include the prisoners. This would give Hunterdon County a population of 119,403 with a demographic that is 95% White, 1% Black, and 2% Latino.
