Stanton County, Kansas
According to the 2000 Census, Stanton County, Kansas has a population of 2,406 people. Of those, 2,031 (84%) are White, 15 (1%) are Black, and 570 (24%) are Latino[1]. However, 33 (or 1% of the 2,406 people) are not residents by choice but are people in prison.
Even though prisoners cannot participate in the local community, the Census Bureau nevertheless counts them as residents of the county where they are incarcerated.
A more accurate description would not include the prisoners. This would give Stanton County a population of 2,373 with a demographic that is 85% White, 0% Black, and 24% Latino.
