Ware County, Georgia

According to the 2000 Census, Ware County, Georgia has a population of 35,483 people. Of those, 24,714 (70%) are White, 9,939 (28%) are Black, and 688 (2%) are Latino[1]. However, 1,491 (or 4% of the 35,483 people) are not residents by choice but are people in prison.

Even though prisoners cannot participate in the local community, the Census Bureau nevertheless counts them as residents of the county where they are incarcerated.

A more accurate description would not include the prisoners. This would give Ware County a population of 33,992 with a demographic that is 71% White, 26% Black, and 2% Latino.
