Treutlen County, Georgia

According to the 2000 Census, Treutlen County, Georgia has a population of 6,854 people. Of those, 4,501 (66%) are White, 2,269 (33%) are Black, and 79 (1%) are Latino[1]. However, 308 (or 4% of the 6,854 people) are not residents by choice but are people in prison.

Even though prisoners cannot participate in the local community, the Census Bureau nevertheless counts them as residents of the county where they are incarcerated.

A more accurate description would not include the prisoners. This would give Treutlen County a population of 6,546 with a demographic that is 68% White, 31% Black, and 1% Latino.
